A Reader's Fancy

To whoever cares, and particularly to those who share my liking for straight piano and vocals, Elton-John-and-Billy-Joel-esque type music:

Do yourself a favor and go on ‘HBO On Demand’ and watch The Union, a documentary concerning the making of the 2010 Elton John/Leon Russell duet album entitled ‘The Union’. The documentary delves into the story of Leon Russell, a supreme musician and lyricist who somehow over his years managed to find a niche for himself in the land of undiscovered and underrated geniuses; a man who, in the documentary, Elton John reveres as “the greatest pianist to ever influence [him].” By contacting Leon Russell and inviting him to create a duet album with him, Elton John took the duty upon himself to make sure that this man, now at age 69, was given his just and deserved acclaim before he no longer had the vitality to enjoy it. If you’re interested in being introduced to a potential new favored artist for your iTunes collection and being entertained by a compelling story then I’d recommend watching the documentary on HBO, ‘The Union’, and downloading Leon Russell’s music, not only the album ‘The Union’ but also his previous and more classic music, which in my opinion is his greatest work. Oh, and the video linked below will supplement as a proper little introduction to the whole thing as well. Yieew!
